Your Help is Needed to Feed the Cape Cod Community

The members of the Cape Cod Chapter of the America Culinary Federation have been working diligently to support the local community in this time of need. Within 72 hours of the official closing of public and private schools in Massachusetts, we raised over $5,000 in food product and financial donations for Cape Kid Meals. Widespread school cancellations have triggered unprecedented demand for student meals. Our contribution was made possible by generous donations from The Coonamessett Inn, The Lobster Trap, West End, Ring Bros. Marketplace, The Wianno Club, and many others who bravely rose to the occasion.

Our chapter has now made a commitment to support another charity that is doing meaningful and often unsung work in the Hyannis Area. Faith Family Kitchen, operated by Jeni Wheeler, provides over 100 hot meals every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to families in need. The recent public health crisis has led to unprecedented levels of hunger and food insecurity on Cape Cod.

Support from the ACF Cape Cod chapter and its supporters will bolster the efforts of the Faith Family Kitchen and strive to help them increase production.

The Major Crisis Relief Fund, a program of the Needy Fund, 508-778-7107 (online application coming this week) is available to anyone in need of help due to the pandemic. If someone has received funds from the Needy Fund in the past year or so, that will not influence the assistance from this fund; they can still apply.
