About the Council

For 65 years, the Cape Cod Council of Churches has served low-income individuals and families throughout Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. “Serving God by Serving Others” guides our various programs and ministries that touch the lives of more than 11,000 Cape residents every year. As a faith-based organization, we offer services to all, regardless of religious affiliation.

The Council exists as an expression of Christian ecumenical ministry. This allows for powerful witness as we gather in a community of caring with our Cape and Islands neighbors in need. The Council celebrates relationships with congregations that provide volunteers to staff its ministries, clergy and lay leaders who serve on the Board of Directors, and faithful financial support to ensure the continuation of its ministries. We are also blessed with the support of local businesses, individuals, foundations and partnerships with organizations.

Through our ministries, the Council has demonstrated its ability to identify unmet needs in our region, create a response to meet those needs, and partner with others to develop effective programs. We work hard to be ‘community’ to one another — to reach out, cross boundaries, and share mission and resources. Through our united work, we serve many thousands of our neighbors, providing practical goods and assistance while also offering guidance, hope and comfort.
